Bidder Beware

Auction house Christie's shows a pair of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) porcelain bowls created during the reign of Emperor Yongzheng (1678-1735), at a media preview; April 11, 2019. 
The Christie's Hong Kong Spring Auctions 2019 will be held in Hong Kong from May 24 to 29. Those to go under the hammer include several treasured porcelain and handcraft works from ancient China, each estimated at more than HK$10 million ($1.2 million).

Time fly's when your having fun. Sunday and Monday in HK were, despite the cold temps (8-10), very pleasant, clear skies and clean air!!!!.

Out of Singapore into Hong Kong, home is nearing

This sojourn winds down ..  Not Hong Kong’s best view of sunset .. but its mine for Friday night. Kowloon looking on to HK Island.  A very hectic schedule is winding down. Multiple cities in Mainland, Hong Kong, a couple of times, Singapore,  now from HK the last leg.  Saturday its CX 884 to LAX and a short drive home. Sean had to extend his visit to Holland and Germany, returning home late Sunday evening. His visit was a resounding success and as a result I think this will be a first of many.

I hope be in the US thu the end of the year.

Sunday in Hong Kong

Between torrential rain storms, I managed to nip into Hong Kong on Sunday. Tucked away in a non tourist part of town there are few tea shops.. wholesalers and retail shops .. some unfortunately closed on Sunday, some only open in afternoon.

This small shop carried a number of Taiwanese tea wares and the obligatory high priced Pu-erh.
As much as I like Hong Kong, when it comes to BUYING tea give me Dongguan every time. The people in HK are great, but you get a lot of tall tails and I just don't feel comfortable buying there.

Great place to eat .. in Kowloon's Harbour City shopping center, 3rd. floor: Rice Paper. (near Page One bookstore) Vietnamese inspired food .. excellent, food was fresh and well prepared.

Hong Kong 7/1/2007 HK:10

Sunday (7/1) about 1:00pm I'm heading out of China to Hong Kong. Just as we pay our toll and head towards Shenzhen Airport, the entire road system comes to stand still.
Paulo calls and checks out the situation. Looks like the heavy rain delayed the departure flight of: Hu Jintao (胡錦濤), after participating in the Reunification Anniversary Celebrations.
15 min hold up and we make it to Fu Yong ferry.

Arrived in Kowloon at 3:30 pm. Much to my surprise immigration/customs were quite. Once out in the streets is was a different picture ... Seemed that most of the population were converging on the harbour front .. in anticipation of the firework show, scheduled for 8:00pm.

Like a salmon swimming upstream I found TST MRT station and at 4:00pm I was in my hotel in Wanchai, on KH island. On Queensway road, we had a steady stream of marchers; demonstrating, protesting, advertising, making statements, etc, etc .. all having a good time:

Its Tuesday must be Kowloon

Tuesday, 11:00 am ferry from; Shenzhen 深圳 (shen zhen)
to Kowloon 九龙 (Jiu Long) Nine Dragons.
MRT from Tsim Sha Tsui 尖沙嘴 (TST) to Mong Kok 旺角 (Wang jiao)
Meet a couple of folks at Langham Place Hotel, then off.
MRT to Hong Kong Island 香港岛 (Xiang Gang Dao)
Exit at; Admiralty 金钟 (jin zhong) Subway station 地铁站 (di tie zhan)
Take Care of business then back to TST in time for the 4:15 ferry back to the Mainland.

NB:
Going for lunch is a full contact sport; NO EYE CONTACT, is the golden rule. It's no wonder MP3 and ipods are Omnipresent, as most Hongkongers create their own reality.

Just around the corner is; "Ying Kee Tea House" Tea shops are great places to meet and talk with people .. in Hong Kong you find more English is spoken. Shops are small, shoehorned into non existing spaces.
Quality of goods, fair, but with less selection when compared to most in Guangdong. I look for items not found in Mainland stores, mostly hand crafted paraphernalia or imported items (not from China)

No rain, but Plenty of clouds as we pass Hong Kong Island. The port is in full swing and you can feel the buzz all over. But, back in Dongguan they had a down pour ... I got back around 5:30 pm and the rain was gone. Lucky me.

Hong Kong- quick note JW Marriott Club

Into Hong Kong May 23rd.
When in HK Island I stay at the JW Marriott, great location, right at Admiralty station.
Long story short .. New addition in the club lounge, they provide small Kung Fu Cha sets and a couple of teas.

quick notes. Hong Kong Pipers

Very busy past couple of weeks, in and out of Hong Kong and all over Guandong province. So this weekend plan is to relax and catch up on my backlog of reports.

Robin is driving up to see Sean in St.Helena (Napa Valley). She detoured to spend some time in Yosemite Nat. park and go through the Gold Country. .. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Last Wed. I had a meeting at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong. What a way to make an entrance. Just as I arrived a pipe band was marching into the hotel, so I saw it as my national duty to march in with them. (I'm sure my Hawaiian shirt blended in)

Into HK

It's almost 9:00am Saturday morning here in Kowloon .. sitting at the Pacific Coffee Company. I'll take a few and shake out the 14 1/2 hrs of flight time .. spend the morning in Kowloon then head into mainland ....

Hong Kong - NO "H Tea O"

A local Tragedy with world wide consequences ... H Tea O .. my favorite Hong Kong tea-coffee shop closed!!!! .. No memo, No e-mail, No "Dear John" letter ...
I checked into Marriott .. walked over to Queensway plaza, in Wan Chai, .. passing the familiar shops .. I approached HTO !!! now ... used to be .. in its place a "Double Star" cafe was in final stages of fit-out .. As we say back home .. "Bugger this for a game of soldiers" ..

H-TEA-O Tea Garden in Causeway Bay is open.
So no longer a stroll for tea .. jump on MRT .. will check out Causeway bay location next trip.
Exit E at Causeway Bay MTR (Victoria Park Exit), turn left, the first major building on the left, up the escalator next to Max Mara.
H-TEA-O is soon to open in Guangzhou, in the Tianhe District, next to Tiyuxi Station on the Guangzhou Metro. They will be opening in Mid-April.
